It’s getting to that stage of the year where it’s starting to get a little warmer and a lot of us are now starting to think about a declutter, but the only thing is, is that we just don’t have the time to do any of it! Fortunately, there are a few quick decluttering things you can do to make it that much easier whenever you decide to do it.
- Give your fridge a clean whilst you’re waiting for your brew
If you’re anything like us, when you’re waiting for your kettle to boil, you’ll stand in the kitchen probably not doing a great deal. But instead of doing this and being ineffective, it can be time spent looking in your cupboards and fridge and throwing out any unnecessary ingredients that are expiring whilst you’re on standby.
- Take out the rubbish when you leave
Whether it’s only a small bag or a couple of recyclables, you should try to take out any rubbish you have when you’re leaving the house because it’s such a quick and simple way to tidy up your home and keep it smelling fresh.
- Trim down your closet whilst you get dressed
Having too much of one thing can be a bad thing, especially in your wardrobe. If you’re keeping old clothes just for the sake of it, it gets to the point where nothing else will fit in it! To try and reduce the clothing that you have, every time you get changed you should try and throw away at least one piece of clothing each day for a week or longer depending on the number of clothes you have. Anything that’s in your closet that you haven’t worn for over a year, it’s time to get rid.
- Sort out dirty washing before showering
If your shower takes a while to warm up or someone else is in the shower, then try to be productive by using this slim amount of time to organise your next washing load so when it comes around to it, you’re ready to pop it on.
- Declutter your coffee table
Some of the things that can end up on a coffee table, it’s quite astounding. Some of us just throw things on it and completely forget it’s even there. Well before you pause in the morning to check your emails, watch TV etc. take a second to sieve through the rubbish you have on your coffee table, it creates a much cleaner image and makes you feel very relaxed.
- Make your bed straight away
Whilst it’s not really decluttering, making your bed in the morning is a great way to minimise distractions and jobs you have to do when you get home. Not only that but it does have an effect on you because it puts you in a much better mood knowing that your bedroom is all nice and tidy.
All of these are just easy things that you can fit into any of your schedules. We’ve come up with these to make decluttering your house a lot easier when it comes around to it. it might not look as though these are making a dent into your efforts, but they do, so give them a try.
